Epitope Support

Help with the Epitope allergy label scanner

Epitope is not for emergencies. If someone is having a severe allergic reaction, use their epinephrine auto-injector if one is available and call 911 or your local emergency number.

Contact us

Email support@strategixpartners.ai. Tell us what you were doing and what you saw. If your question is about a product, include the number under its barcode.

We can help with how the app works. We cannot give medical advice; please take questions about your own allergies to your allergist.

A product was not found, or the result says it can't verify

Epitope reads product information from Open Food Facts, a public database that volunteers maintain, and from USDA FoodData Central when Open Food Facts has no ingredient list. Some products are in neither, and some have no ingredient list on file. When the information is not there to check, Epitope tells you so and does not show a green result. On iPhone you can tap "Photograph the ingredient list" to have the label read on your phone. Always read the label on the package.

A result looks wrong

Trust the label in your hand over the app. Database records can be incomplete or out of date, and recipes change. Email us the barcode number and what the label says, and we will look into it.

The camera is not scanning

Open the Settings app on your phone, find Epitope, and turn on Camera. You can also tap "Enter a barcode or try a sample" on the Scan tab and type the number under the barcode.

Where is my information kept?

On your device only. There is no account, and we never receive your profile, journal, or cards, so we cannot see or recover them. To keep a copy, open the Me tab and choose "Export all my data".

How do I delete my information?

Open the Me tab and choose "Erase everything on this device". Deleting the app from your phone also removes everything it stored.
